TAMI Show in March.
I don't even care what quality this is (the theatrical release was a kinescope). This needs to be in circulation again. Bravo.

Great news to hear that The Beach Boys performance is back in! Brian Wilson took it out to get the idea of the striped shirt and khaki wearing Beach Boys and prepare the audience for the upcoming Smile era. Too bad that never panned out. Plus it's always good to get the Wrecking Crew in live performance.

Again, another case where Gary thinks he's the end all/be all. My DVD plays and looks quite good.Cronenfly wrote:Streamers is a bust, transfer-wise.

So you're saying it's not a poor PAL->NTSC conversion?bearcuborg wrote:Again, another case where Gary thinks he's the end all/be all. My DVD plays and looks quite good.Cronenfly wrote:Streamers is a bust, transfer-wise.

Although I haven't seen that disc myself, they state that it's encoded at 29.970fps (assuming that part is true, we know they have been inaccurate in other ways in the past). Although that's not best pratice, if the disc is played back on a flat panel TV or on a progressive scan DVD player, the video processor chip in either of those devices will lock onto the 3-2 field cadence and show the image clearly, without any interlacing. *That's assuming it's not a standards conversion - I've not seen the disc.*So you're saying it's not a poor PAL->NTSC conversion?

Re: Shout! Factory
It's definitely a conversion -- the runtime is nearly the same as the PAL R2 and about 4% shorter than the cinema release (118m23s, per the BBFC).

I knew the Woman in Cages Collection was coming on DVD but where did you hear that it was getting a BR release too? Being a Jack Hill fanatic, this is great news for me.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere here, but they're releasing Frankenheimer's delirious 99 and 44/100% Dead on a double feature with some other film that looks interesting called The Nickel Ride.

The Nickel Ride is very, very good. Easily t5 neo-noir for me, at least of the 70s.

Yeah, the Mulligan is by far the more significant half of that double bill.

Bertrand Tavernier's Death Watch coming in a DVD/Blu combo pack on August 28. Anyone know who spearheaded the resto/whether we can expect more from Shout a la Bavaria Films' deal with Olive?

Looks like Shout has acquired the Timeless Media Group Catalog. Lots of Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Western TV in the catalog it appears.

99 AND 44/100% DEAD is a cult classic in need of more exposure. It plays like a cross between Suzuki Seijun at his most unrestrained and a 1980's Cannon ninja flick.Perkins Cobb wrote:Yeah, the Mulligan is by far the more significant half of that double bill.
