Re: Relationships Between Art Forms
Wasn't there a book featuring paintings in film..? I recall it being mentioned, but don't know when, where or what it was called...
EDIT: Found it! The Dark Galleries, paintings in noir films.
I would like to know if - and how many - of these paintings survive in various collections.
The Picture of Dorian Gray is in the Art Institute of Chicago.
(Also, the look-like-real-physical-objects - often books - that were used to display the credits on dozens of films in the 40s-60s. Did they exist? Do they still?)
Here's a website showcasing 'real' art featured in films..

I have this book and may have recommended it in the past. It’s structured like an art exhibit program, though everything is in black and whitentnon wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 9:48 pmWasn't there a book featuring paintings in film..? That seems probable. Does it give current sources of the works included, or is it screenshot images?domino harvey wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 10:01 pmI have this book and may have recommended it in the past.
