Just looking at her filmography, Reynolds had an incredible run from 1952-1955: Singin' in the Rain, I Love Melvin, Dobie Gillis, Give a Girl a Break, Susan Slept Here, Athena, Hit the Deck-- all good and most great on an all-time scale

I own all of those...
Mother is one of the great ones too. Her delivery of her last line in Behind the Candelabra always makes laugh out loud.

Carrie Fisher presenting Debbie Reynolds with SAG Lifetime Achievement Award. Nice Reynolds compilation as well as showcasing Carrie Fisher's humor.

It's also worth posting this little tribute Carrie Fisher recorded for her mother several years ago on TCM. These have been a rough and surreal few days to process. But the way it feels to us can't even begin to compare to what their family is going through right now. All my thoughts and prayers to Todd Fisher and Billie Lourd.

The Tender Trap is also pretty excellent from that time period.domino harvey wrote:Just looking at her filmography, Reynolds had an incredible run from 1952-1955: Singin' in the Rain, I Love Melvin, Dobie Gillis, Give a Girl a Break, Susan Slept Here, Athena, Hit the Deck-- all good and most great on an all-time scale

I stopped my list of her achievements from this period at that film for a reason

I watched Bright Lights the other night, having not realised it was being shown so soon (it was originally due for a March showing), and it is absolutely lovely. Really touching, very funny (the Leia sex doll is a highlight, as is Griffin Dunne's appearance) - the two of them spark beautifully off each other, a mixture of exasperation, concern and love throughout. Not intended as such obviously, but is has ended up as a fantastic tribute to them. Highly recommended.

I watched Bright Lights too, and had the opposite feeling. I wish I'd never seen it. It was very depressing, and reminded me of Grey Gardens. The co-director was Fisher Stevens, the 1980's actor.

The VHS Video Vault channel has just put up a half hour interview with Carrie Fisher by Clive James from 1991. On being Princess Leia Organa: "I just like that my initials were P.L.O."
