I was more shocked than you....then after FedEx delivered it, I got an email from Fingerhut that it shipped.

Got my set today. Went through Vertigo. Major upgrade over SD mind I say. Not sure that this will be the definitive release of the film but I am very happy about the transfer. I only watched Vertigo on the big screen 3 times the last 20 years. This is probably the closest to my experience in a theatre.

And the audio? Can anyone interested in the soundscape of Vertigo check the two English audio tracks and possibly compare them to the mono from the old DVD or the 5.1 from the old DVDs?

As a side note, it took 'forever' to load Vertigo on my blu machine and I thought it was a defective copy first.

BTW Rear Window is a significant upgrade in transfer over the SD. Grace Kelly never looks so astonishing. Onto uncle Charlie.

Shadow of a doubt is definitely a major upgrade over the SD. The improvement in transfer from SD is probably close to that of All about Eve.

Interesting as I mentioned earlier, it took a while for the Universal logo to show up when loading the disc. Then it took 15 seconds or something like that to have the blu ray screen showing up. Guess that Universal wants to keep the suspense in high gear.:)

BTW where is the AFI saluting Hitchcock from the extra disck from the Hitch master collection DVD box set? I just cannot find it on the blu ray box set.

What's everyone else's Fingerhut status? Mine is still just parked at Label Created...

I got an email yesterday that my Fingerhut order shipped. Nice. I still won't believe it until it's in my hands. But nice.

Would you really want it delivered during Sandy?

Yeah, because my apartment building has a lobby that delivery services leave stuff in, and I'll likely be home from work wanting to pour over these films. Oh well, I was expecting the 23rd, and before that was expecting to have to pay a ton for this set, so I can't complain.

I saw this set today at a Hastings in Albuquerque.
Mine hasn't shipped yet either but I'm not worried.

Blu-Ray.com

Mono for Vertigo confirmed, ditto credit fix (but nothing else) for Frenzy, serious issues with Marnie, The Birds & Family Plot. Interestingly, Rear Window gets 3.5 out of 5 for the video. Hopefully individual discs will be out in 6 months!

Interested in seeing just how bad Family Plot is. Birds and Marnie look good from the DVDbeaver screenhots. It might be worth it if there is only one true dud picture-wise.

There are definitely two stinkers and 2-3 substandard transfers, but buying this set for $100 or less it is still a bargain!

I never got an email update from Fingerhut, but just checked their website and saw that my set shipped today and is scheduled to arrive Thursday.

I trust RAH and Nick's reviews of this set. Outside of them I find all the huffing and puffing over this set to be quite amusing. Generally, I tend to distrust opinions of those who go out of their way to let it be known how much of an expert they are. . .

I just checked Fingerhut again (I'm a little neurotic), and it's now suddenly listed as having shipped yesterday, and due to arrive today!

Suck balls to all a y'all

EDIT: I called FedEx because I am incredibly neurotic and they don't show any record of anything arriving or headed to my home, so I guess I should strap in for further delays. I got in on the deal pretty early too, I guess these are being shipped out in a somewhat random order.

I guess that's the kind of promptness a $14 domestic shipping fee for one box set can get you at Fingerhut. (In all fairness, they were probably just caught off guard by the number of orders placed for this set.)

The thing that drives me crazy, though, is that the Blu-ray.com forums have reported at least two instances where the item has gone back "In Stock" in the last few days and people have ordered a copy. Not sure if those people's orders have shipped - but if you don't have enough stock to ship mine, why open up more slots for other orders?
