I'd love to see Black Samurai. That shot of the black hero kung fu kicking a vulture (!) has me sold. Cindarella 2000 had the most "what on earth did I just see?" bits.

Is the Adamson set going to be available at regular retailers? I doubt it’s going to sell out that quickly but I still don’t want to wait.

Re: Severin Films
I think I might be sold on it as I remember being enticed by some of the trailers on the 42nd Street Forever sets, though I'm not expecting masterpieces here. That moment of the lady on a hang-glider shouting out a flyby invective of "Get your ass off our beach!" still makes me laugh!

Re: Severin Films
I remember former long-time member dvdane declaring Adamson the worst director ever. And that dude legitimately seemed to’ve seen everything.

Re: Severin Films
I was gonna say, how are there 30 films to release for a director I've never heard of after 12 years of reading this forum?

Just you wait, I'll be releasing my own 30-film box set in about a week or so.

Re: Severin Films
The most amazing thing is that there is still not a single Theo Angelopoulos Blu-Ray released in any part of the World!

Point taken, though that's not actually true--at the very least, Landscape in the Mist was released in Japan

For four days now I've been trying to talk myself out of buying this, but it's hopeless.

Re: Severin Films
If the Criterion sale doesn't happen on next Tuesday and this motherload of s**t doesn't sell out by next Friday, I will probably vandalize my wallet on the leap day and tell myself that it happens once every four year. I have already committed one crime by buying and putting the Gordon Lewis Feast box right next to the Bergman set, why not committing a second one? At least, Adamson set will find a regular spot next to its Severin kins. Hopefully this will be a regular BD size box set (based on the picture).

Haha, same here, I need some more cereal box-sized sets to balance things out morechatterjees wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 11:21 pmI have already committed one crime by buying and putting the Gordon Lewis Feast box right next to the Bergman set

Someone at the label said the packaging was like Universal's Hitchcock collection (so, hardbound cardboard sleeves)

I honestly think whoever cut the trailer for this set deserves a bonus, it's driving us all towards the path of madness

Re: Severin: The Al Adamson Masterpiece Collection
It's a no brainer--pay $170 now, sell it to someone else for $300 in a year if I don't like it, and all I'm out is 50+ HOURS OF MY LIFE

One of the films Carnival Magic was featured in the first season of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Netflix revival and if the rest of the films are even a quarter as wild it'll be a great time.

Re: Severin: The Al Adamson Masterpiece Collection
I will never forgive myself for finally giving up and placing the order. I stood in front of my entire collection for few minutes and realized that this is the highest amount of money I ever paid for any blu-ray box set.

Re: Severin: The Al Adamson Masterpiece Collection
I highly recommend to anyone interested that at minimum you watch some of the actual trailers in full for these films before purchasing-- even the worst films can usually pull off a fun trailer, but all the trailers for these films convinced me was everyone is probably right about this director's abilities or lack thereof. None of them could even pull together two minutes of footage that might be good! Unfortunately, based on what I've seen, I suspect these films are bad and incompetent in a boring way. I could obviously be wrong, but $170 could buy a lot of surer bets than these

Re: Severin: The Al Adamson Masterpiece Collection
Such as the Shinya Tsukamoto set also coming out in April which I would be much quicker to recommend to anyone! Whereas this I think (like the Herschell Gordon Lewis collection a few years back, or the Norman J. Warren set) needs to be approached with a bit more caution and a more than casual interest in B-movies that might not be any 'normal' person's definition of good! But for those with those interests, its amazing that they put together such a set.

I think it's amazing that they're releasing this, but it is real buyer-beware stuff.
