99 films! That's amazing. I hope there will be some Tilly & Sally shorts, little of their stuff seem to survive but they're my favorite slapstick duo. It's like Vera Chytilova's Daisies filmed in the 1910s.
But Léontine is already great. It's crazy how we don't even know who the actress is.

Re: Kino
I'd been wanting to see that movie for years, so of course it finally comes out some time after the point where I decided that the grapes were probably sour, anyway.domino harvey wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 11:19 pmJules Dassin's Celui qui doit mourir coming in September

Re: Kino
A little off topic, but given that Kino seems to now be the distributor for Raro and Cohen, I'm surprised they haven't thrown together a Fellini box of their own with Clowns, Cassanova, City of Women, "Marriage Agency," and "The Temptation of Dr Antonio."

Re: Kino
can anyone speak to whether the Kino Classics edition of The Last Laugh surpasses the MOC one included in the Early Murnau box? I know the Kino Tartuffe definitely does, as seen on Beaver, but haven't seen any info on The Last Laugh (I may have totally missed it). naturally don't see any info on Noah Isenberg's commentary, either...

I was under the impression that it's about the same, that's why I got it. Maybe someone else can answer definitively?ryannichols7 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 2:30 pmcan anyone speak to whether the Kino Classics edition of The Last Laugh surpasses the MOC one included in the Early Murnau box? Re: Kino
would love to know, its certainly a good rule of thumb that the UK label version is superior to Kino/KLSC, but the exceptions are definitely notable ones. there's even a time where its worth owning both (The General, for Joe Hisashi's score and Three Ages, which is also on sale!)hearthesilence wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 2:57 pmI was under the impression that it's about the same, that's why I got it. What’s even more odd is that Indicator did use Kino’s master for their versions comparison extra.yoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 5:56 pmIt is in regards to the PQ since Indicator is just using the old HD magenta'd master whereas Kino uses a new 2K master.

Re: Kino
Coming to Blu-ray January 10th from Kino Lorber and Cohen Media Group!
The Gang of Four (1988)
Directed by Jacques Rivette
Starring Bulle Ogier
Pre-order: https://kinolorber.com/product/the-gang-of-four
Intimations of conspiracy hover over a group of actors in this underrated but decidedly major work from New Wave master and former Cahiers du Cinema editor-in-chief Jacques Rivette. Four young women share a house on the outskirts of Paris and study acting under a demanding teacher (Bulle Ogier). Outside class, each is questioned by a mysterious investigator on the trail of a former roommate who may be involved in a criminal enterprise. Rivette’s characteristic preoccupation with the intersections between daily life and performativity creep into every corner of this wholly engrossing mystery, which eventually expands beyond the confines of the film itself. Shot by DP Caroline Champetier (HOLY MOTORS) in a glorious late-‘80s palette of deep reds, golden yellows, and dark teals, this playful revisiting of his debut PARIS BELONGS TO US launched the second phase of Rivette’s career.
BONUS FEATURES:
*Audio commentary track by Director Emeritus, New York Film Festival & Professor of Film and Media Studies, Columbia University Richard Peña
*Re-release Trailer
*French with English subtitles

Re: Kino
now it'd be great if Kino would release some of the other Metrograph holdings like Goodbye Dragon Inn, Made in Hong Kong, and L'intrus that are all without US discs as well and have new restorations. the first two obviously have excellent region B discs (Tsai obviously being region free) but I always welcome things seeing a wider audience, even if other members of the forum dogpile them being "unnecessary" releases

I don't know what's worse, a schlubby, creepy, old single guy who's a pornhound, or someone like Tooze who is apparently a family man with the same tendencies.

I probably like porn more than all the heterosexuals on this board combined. Think about what I might mean by that for a while, Doc.therewillbeblus wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 10:58 pmDoes the judgment matter if neither of the people you're talking about are hurting anybody?
