I get it, it's visually rich.. and also a bad movie.

Speaking of Verneuil, did you ever watch his Body of My Enemy? I'm thinking of picking up that one.domino harvey wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 12:17 pmSpring Sale is live, lots of titles on sale, including forum favorite Has Anybody Seen My Gal? and should be favorites I... comme Icare and Les seins de glace / Icy Breasts

I actually did see it recently, as I grabbed it from Hamilton Books for about what it’s going for now. I liked it and can recommend picking it up for a reduced price, though the film starts more promisingly as a different film than the more conventional one it isJean-Luc Garbo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 3:07 pmSpeaking of Verneuil, did you ever watch his Body of My Enemy? Wow, never expected this to go on sale immediately - I'll have to think twice before picking up faves in advance. On the other hand, Too Proudly We Hail took like three-to-four sales to drop at alldomino harvey wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 12:17 pmlots of titles on sale, including forum favorite Has Anybody Seen My Gal?

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
Kino’s catalogue is so deep and wide. If you haven’t been importing from them for a long time, it is very dangerous. Longlist basket had $900 in, shortlist got down to $500, yet I don’t want to really spend more than $100-150. Prioritise While Supplies Last titles that haven’t been released elsewhere, I guess…
They obviously rotate what is on sale, because none my basket cuts that were moved to the wishlist last time around are on sale again.

I wouldn’t necessarily count on that. I think many of these later Rosis have real rights issues that don’t make them straightforward to release.domino harvey wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 12:17 pmAlso, Lucky Luciano has been deleted, because I had it in my cart and it was in stock a few hours ago but now has been scrubbed. Does anyone know if their Blu-ray release of Rivette's La religieuse / the Nun is OOP? I only see copies of the DVD for sale on their site and no option to purchase the Blu-ray

I see Amazon has it listed with an addendum that there are "more on the way," which would make me think not - but I'm also skeptical how much water that holds

I somehow never read Kino's ad copy for this, and the last line is legit hilarious:
Banned for over a year by the French Minister of Information, and not released in the United States until 1971, it slowly became a landmark of the French New Wave, and with this stunning restoration, should also become an object of worship.

I think it’s just possible it might be back ordered at the moment and it will get back on the site once they have more in stock because I don’t remember it ever appearing on the Going OOP section of their site.

Kino is releasing Bottoms (yes, the 2023 movie) for some reason. feels a bit unusual for them as they usually don't put out newer titles aside from their own holdings

I legitimately thought that was never going to get a home release. Just bizarre

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
They do seem to release modern LGBTQ+ films on occasion, of which this is one, so not completely surprising. But I'm assuming this is a Kino release and not a KLSC one

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
Great news, I thought the film was hilarious and I’ve been bummed that there had been no release so far. I’d assume it will be KLSC since it’s a studio license. Hopefully some other Amazon/MGM films that have had no sign of getting a physical release, like American Fiction, will follow.

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
Kino's recent MGM deal only had one title from the 2020s. So those would have to be from future deals (or come from other companies like Shout.)

domino, for what it's worth, I think you'd like Bottoms. It shares an anarchic tone with some of the high school-set films you've championed here
